Johnson Controls shows its stain-fighting seat coating, FreshPer4mance, at the 2015 North American International Auto Show

Product makes spills and dirt disappear with one wipe

DETROIT, Jan. 14, 2015 – Automotive interior spills and dirt have met their match. To keep vehicle seats stain-free, Johnson Controls, a global multi-industrial company, developed its FreshPer4mance coating for automotive seats. The coating repels dirt and liquid, and protects passengers from germs and static.

For the first time, the new FreshPer4mance coating will be on display for media and customers to experience at Johnson Controls’ exhibit at the 2015 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) at Detroit’s Cobo Center.

“Our FreshPer4mance innovation provides vehicle owners with greater protection from everyday wear and tear when it comes to seat covers,” said Detlef Juerss, group vice president & general manager Customer Groups Europe for Johnson Controls Automotive Seating. “This product not only prevents damage from stains over the vehicle’s lifetime, it also protects the fabric from dirty hands and spills.”

Making textiles liquid-repellent, stain- and germ-resistant, and antistatic, FreshPer4mance allows stubborn dirt to be removed with one wipe, without leaving any marks. This also makes the seats easier to keep clean, hygienic and odor free. The highly effective coating can be applied to all cover fabrics. For optimum, long-lasting protection, Johnson Controls coats the entire fabric during the production process.

FreshPer4mance is ideal for heavily used seat covers in commercial vehicles as well as for vehicles with constantly changing drivers, such as rental cars, car-sharing and pool vehicles, as well as for owners who have small children. It also increases the cleanliness and value of private vehicles.

The coating enables automakers to expand their range of trim fabrics to include lighter colors and thus offer their customers more distinctive and customized vehicle options.

An event sponsor and exhibitor, Johnson Controls has been involved in NAIAS for 21 years. Its exhibit in room 310B is open to media and invited guests.

NAIAS  – one of the world’s premier automotive exhibitions – opened to the media and industry officials on Monday, Jan. 12. It opens to the public from Saturday, Jan. 17 through Sunday, Jan. 25. For more information, please visit: www.naias.com.
