Motor Trend Car of the Year the 2014 Cadillac CTS features Johnson Controls content

Supplier provides complete seat system and battery for award-winning vehicle

PLYMOUTH, Mich., Dec. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Automotive products from Johnson Controls, a global multi-industrial company with core businesses in the automotive and building industries, are featured in the award-winning 2014 Cadillac CTS, which was recently named Motor Trend’s Car of the Year.

Johnson Controls supplies the vehicle’s complete seat system, which is shipped to the automaker on a just-in-time (JIT) basis. The luxury seats are designed to deliver occupants the latest in automotive seating innovations for superior safety, comfort and style. The Cadillac CTS seats include options for front seat heat and ventilation, rear seat heat, front seat cushion thigh extender and adjustable front seat bolster and lumbar support for additional comfort. They also offer four-way adjustable head restraints, driver cushion alerts to warn of lane departure and front and rear seat side impact airbag protection.

In addition, Johnson Controls supplied the vehicle’s battery, which features Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) technology. Johnson Controls AGM batteries deliver more than three times the cycling durability of conventional technology batteries and will help to increase fuel efficiency in the CTS by taking electrical loads off the engine.

“Congratulations to the Cadillac CTS team for being recognized with the 2014 Motor Trend Car of the Year award,” said Beda Bolzenius, president of Johnson Controls Automotive Seating. “We are proud to have contributed our seating and battery expertise to this outstanding luxury vehicle.”

The 2014 Cadillac CTS was selected by Motor Trend for this honor based on its advancements in multiple categories, including: design; efficiency; engineering; performance; safety; and value.
