Adient opens new corporate office in Shanghai

With a laser focus on growth, today Adient announced the opening of our new corporate office in Shanghai.

“Our new corporate office in Shanghai signifies an important move for us as we look to drive global and profitable growth and, ultimately, bring value to our shareholders, customers and employees,” said Adient Chairman and Chief Executive Officer R. Bruce McDonald.

The new office, located in Park Place Office Tower and situated in the heart of the city’s central business district, houses approximately 280 employees from all corporate and business functions.

Today’s festivities included a ribbon-cutting with Mr. Wenlan Wan, deputy director of Jing’an district’s Municipal Commission of Commerce, Darlene Knight, vice president of Adient China, and other management team members. But it was the traditional Chinese lion dance and eye-dotting ceremony that made the event one to remember.

“I am confident that our customers, JV partners and employees will benefit from the world-class environment of our new office. We are committed to being a good partner, a good employer, a good corporate citizen and a vital part of the community,” said Knight.

The new corporate office, certified as the Regional Headquarters by Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, will serve as Adient’s management company business grows in China. Previously known as “CSC”, the new Shanghai office also has a new name – ACO for Adient China Office.

A new office. A new name: Adient China Office

In the 20-plus years since forming its first joint venture in China, Adient has grown to be the largest global automotive seating supplier in the country, supporting all major automakers. With the opening of the Shanghai office, Adient reaffirms our commitment to the Chinese market and strengthens our global network of experts. Throughout the country Adient now boasts 31,000 employees, and 17 seating joint ventures (JVs) operating 64 manufacturing plants in 34 cities.

“We are excited about the opportunities in the growing China market. We built all of the necessary capabilities in our new corporate office in Shanghai to facilitate our focused growth in the region." Knight said.

Since debuting on the New York Stock Exchange as an independent, publicly traded company last fall, Adient has also established new corporate office in downtown Milwaukee, WI, announced plans to establish a global headquarters in Detroit, MI, and opened a West Coast research and development hub.
