Students unveil specially-designed automobile seats in Adient Technology Center

TRENČÍN, 10 August 2017

For the eleventh time now, talented university students met with mentors from Adient Technology Center in Trenčín during an annual summer internship program. Their main task was to redesign a car seat to fit the needs of disabled children.

The whole project that contained design and development of specialized automobile seats lasted 6 weeks. “The students were offered a unique opportunity to put their theoretical skills into practice, gain new knowledge and experience from a technology center and work on a very useful project. Every disabled child has their own individual needs and students are expected to take this into account. I cannot imagine a better preparation for their future career. I am very thankful for everyone’s dedication,” says Frank Toenniges, director engineering at Adient and the center’s leader.

The internship consisted of initial training, meeting with mentors, professional trainings and a plant site tour of Adient in Zilina. A meeting with representatives of Early Intervention Center in Bratislava was an important part of the program. The representatives made students familiar with individual needs of disabled children.

Ten selected students of technical universities from Bratislava, Žilina, and Brno participated on the project.

Summer student internships have been organized by Adient Technology Center since 2007. Since 2014, the main aim of the program is redesign of automobile seats for disabled children. The project is organized in close cooperation with Early intervention centers.
