Cathleen A. Ebacher

Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary

As the vice president, general counsel and secretary of Adient, Cathleen Ebacher is responsible for legal, compliance and security functions around the globe.

Ebacher joined Adient’s former parent company, Johnson Controls, in 2009. During her time there, she held a variety of legal management positions in the building efficiency and corporate departments, and, most recently, served as the vice president and global general counsel for centers of excellence. In this role, she led enterprise-wide teams that provided legal services to all company divisions relating to litigation, labor and employment, commercial transactions, procurement and entity management.  

Prior to joining Johnson Controls, Ebacher served for more than 20 years in a variety of senior management and legal positions at global companies and the law firm of Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c. 

Ebacher earned her law degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She holds an honors Bachelor of Arts in political science and Spanish language and literature, and a Master of Arts in Spanish language and literature from Marquette University.  

Ebacher has served as a director of the United Community Center/Centro de la Comunidad Unida non-profit board since 2014.
